What does it mean to work as a team?
Teamwork is generally understood as the willingness of a group of people to work together to achieve a common aim. For example we often use the phrase:” he or she is a good team player”. This means someone has the interests of the team at heart, working for the good of the team.
Working well in a team means: Working with a group of people to achieve a shared goal or outcome in an effective way. Listening to other members of the team. Taking everyone’s ideas on board, not just your own. Working for the good of the group as a whole. Team members in high-performing teams have a sense that the team can overcome obstacles and realize its goals
What Makes a Team Successful?

- Clearly defined roles and responsibilities
- Agreed-upon ground rules
- An established decision-making model
- Effective group process including the commitment to open communication, mutual accountability, and appropriate self-evaluation
“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” – Phil Jackson
